 AREA ATTRACTIONS

While you're in Charleston, be sure to check out some of the following attractions in the area!

Joe Riley Waterfront Park
Life in the Lowcountry is all about slowing down and taking a moment or two to relax, and locals and visitors both agree that Charleston's Waterfront Park is the perfect venue to stretch out and soak up the scene. With a prime location overlooking Charleston Harbor and the Cooper River, and more than 10 acres of room to roam, (most of which is waterfront), Waterfront Pak is essentially a romantic, engaging, serene, and perfectly picturesque destination that will make any newcomer fall in love with this unique southern city.

Charleston City Market
The Charleston City Market is one of the nation’s oldest public markets and the cultural heart of Charleston. We are home to more than 300 vibrant entrepreneurs, and we are open every day of the year except December 25th. No matter what time of day or season you plan to visit, there is something to see, do, taste, and take home as a souvenir from the Charleston City Market!

Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens
In 1743, the son of Major John Boone planted live oak trees, arranging them in two evenly spaced rows. This spectacular approach to his home symbolizes southern heritage and will take root in your memory for many years to come. It would take two centuries for the massive, moss-draped branches to meet overhead, forming today's natural corridor and a scene that NBC Daytime television says is "a must see stop on any trip to Charleston, S.C." Boone Hall has also been recognized as the #1 Plantation in the Charleston Area by USA TODAY 10 BEST.

Middleton Place
For over two and a half centuries, these manicured landscaped gardens have welcomed visitors from all over the world. Stroll through vast garden rooms, visit the heritage breed livestock in the Stableyards, learn skills performed by the enslaved through live demonstrations by our resident blacksmith, potter and other textile workers. Daily outdoor tours reveal three centuries of stories of men and women, free and enslaved, who participated in the building and the stewardship of this American icon.

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum
Walk in the steps of heroes at the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. Guests can step aboard three museum ships: USS Yorktown CV-10, Essex-class aircraft carrier; USS Laffey DD-724, Sumner-class naval destroyer; and USS Clamagore SS-343, GUPPY III submarine. It’s also home to the Patriots Point Museum and a fleet of National Historic Landmark ships, the Cold War Memorial and the only Vietnam Experience Exhibit in the U.S., the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, and the agency's official Medal of Honor Museum.
