Workers' Compensation Professional (WCP®) Designation Program

UNIVERSITY LOCATIONS

This enrollment option provides students the opportunity to learn through direct instruction. Students participate in a full collegiate course hosted by university partners before being given access to the final exam. Enrollment includes a hard copy textbook and course guide, exam fees, and related shipping costs and taxes. Upon passing the final exam, AMCOMP will mail a WCP diploma and pin, and send a digital badge.

ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY – IN-PERSON

SEPTEMBER 18 - DECEMBER 18, 2023
AMCOMP founder and chairman emeritus, Donald T. DeCarlo, will present this in-person WCP program hosted by St. John’s University. Weekly sessions will be held at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y., on the dates listed below. Students will then have until March 31, 2024 to complete the online exam to become WCP-certified.

Donald T. DeCarlo, Esq., WCP® – St. John’s University WCP Course Instructor
Donald T. DeCarlo, Esq. is the principal of an independent law firm which focuses on mediation/arbitration and regulatory and insurance counseling. Before establishing the firm in 2005, Mr. DeCarlo was a partner at Lord Bissell & Brook LLP and headed its New York office. Formerly, he was senior vice president and general counsel of The Travelers Insurance Companies, Deputy General Counsel for its parent corporation Travelers Group, Inc. and executive vice president and general counsel for Gulf Insurance Group.

Mr. DeCarlo has authored numerous scholarly articles in legal and trade journals and is a co-author of three books on workers compensation insurance. He is also the founder and chairman emeritus of The American Society of Workers Compensation Professionals, Inc. (AMCOMP).

Mr. DeCarlo graduated from Iona College with a major in economics and earned his Law Degree at Saint John’s University Law School.


UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MAINE – VIRTUAL

This 10 week virtual WCP program is hosted by University of Southern Maine annually, generally running mid-February to mid-April. Full details and registration information regarding the 2024 offering will be available soon.
